Detail — corrosion spalling on a steel-reinforced structure
The problem with steel

Steel rusts. The structure fails around it.

Corroding reinforcement is the single largest driver of concrete infrastructure failure worldwide. Coatings delay it. Waterproofing delays it. Neither stops it. GFRP removes the mechanism entirely.

Non-corrosive

No spalling, no corrosion cracking. Built for coastal, marine and de-icing environments.

Transport savings

One truckload of MST-BAR carries what four truckloads of steel rebar would.

Handling on site

Moved by hand or machine, cut with ordinary tools. Fewer injuries, smaller crews.

Exceptional strength

Minimum 1000 MPa in tension, minimum 20 MPa in bond.

Products

Two bars. Every pour.

Alligator River Bridge

When North Carolina replaced the Alligator River Bridge, GFRP was chosen over steel. MST-BAR is part of the GFRP reinforcement on this coastal crossing on U.S. 64, where corrosion is the defining engineering constraint. Opening 2029.
